The Samsung Galaxy 6 is just around the corner. Dubbed as Project Zero, Samsung’s back-to-the-drawing-board efforts for their next flagship device are finally beginning to seep through with some recent rumors and leaks regarding the device finally bearing some proof of reality. The latest photo to have surfaced on the Web could very well be what the Korean giant’s phone would end up looking like, despite the person who leaked these claiming the images to be of the older prototypes of the device. More on this news, right after the jump.
Leaked to PhoneArena by a reader, the device shown is consistent with two major rumors and leaks; the all-glass panel on the front and back, and an interesting leak of a protective case allegedly designed and manufactured for quick release once the Galaxy S6 ships out. The photo falls in line with the rumor about how the S6 being redesigned from scratch would be sporting glass panels on the front and back with a metal ring wrapped around the edges. Naturally that means we would be treated to flat surfaces and that is exactly what can be seen here, and call it the iPhone 4/4s if you may, but it looks smashing indeed.
Facing the onslaught of iPhones, Samsung has been slowly losing ground to the Cupertino based company where it may still be sharing the top spot with Apple, but the latter has been improving its market share at a far greater pace than the Korean giant, which is obviously giving the bosses at Samsung some sleepless nights. More so, Samsung has just announced that the company’s profits dropped a whopping 27% in the fourth quarter.
The Galaxy S6 is touted to be a game changer for the company, and with it sporting what can be classified as a premium design, Samsung has seemingly decided to stick to building phones with premium designs as was initiated with the launch of the Galaxy Alpha and the subsequent A series of phones. The Galaxy S5 was the tipping point which made Samsung a company solely intent on beefing up specs with no whatsoever real work on the design front, and luckily the Korean giant realized this. If this was in time or not, the launch of the Galaxy S6 should make that abundantly clear.
