Huawei already has something of a reputation for taking Apple’s designs and, shall we say, borrowing them. And the leaked renders of the upcoming MatePad Pro are going to do nothing to change that.
The leaks come via two different sources. One is the well-known leaker Evan Blass, while the other is 91mobiles. It’s the image from the former that is causing the most noise, though.

Looking at it, it’s easy to see why, too. The MatePad Pro is attached to a keyboard case along with a stylus. And all three items in the image look suspiciously like an iPad Pro and its associated accessories.
That means you’re looking at a Huawei interpretation of a Smart Keyboard Folio and an Apple Pencil, which is to say, they both look identical to Apple’s version. It’s all rather striking, really.
Apple iPad Pro 2018
The only real difference? The camera setup. The MatePad Pro, assuming these leaks are accurate, will have a hole punch camera on the front because why not? In all honesty, I’m not at all sure why it’s there because there’s surely enough space on a tablet’s bezel to fit a camera. After all, Apple did it with the iPad Pro.
Is it possible the hole punch camera is there solely as a way for Huawei to say they didn’t copy Apple? Possibly.
