Apple has already made a pretty great start to its transition to Apple silicon with the new M1-powered MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and Mac mini. But there are more coming, with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo saying that new MacBook modes will come in the second half of next year.
According to a research note seen by MacRumors, Kuo is of the belief that the new MacBooks will all come with an external redesign.
The first round of M1 Macs are all essentially identical to their Intel counterparts.
While Kuo doesn’t specifically say which MacBooks Apple will refresh he has already pointed to new 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models coming in the second or third quarter of next year. With that in mind it doesn’t take too much tea leaf reading to work out what Kuo might be talking about here.
Apple’s transition to its own silicon is still set to take a couple of years because of the number of products that will need to be updated. It also gives Apple time to get high wattage, high performance chips ready for the likes of iMacs and Mac Pros.
And if Apple can already ship low power machines like the MacBook Air with the performance we’re seeing right now just imagine what a Mac Pro could do!
