Kuo: Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE 2, And Rugged Apple Watch Set For 2022 Release

Following reports by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggesting a new Apple Watch Series 8, updated Apple Watch SE, and all-new rugged Apple Watch will launch next year, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has now shared similar news — adding further weight to the story.

According to a new research note seen by MacRumors, all three watches will debut in the second half of 2022 — matching a release cadence that we’ve come to expect from the Apple Watch lineup.

The new Apple Watch in 2H22 includes Apple Watch 8, the new Apple Watch SE, and the extreme sports version. Luxshare-ICT is the NPI supplier for Apple Watch 8 and the extreme sports versions.

An Apple Watch Series 8 is a given and while a refreshed Apple Watch SE is interesting, it’s that rugged Apple Watch that will be most interesting. We’ve heard talk of such a device before although it isn’t yet clear what that could entail.

The smart money appears to be on something akin to an Apple Watch in one of the rugged cases third-party accessory makers already sell.

Both Kuo and Bloomberg’s Gurman have a decent track record on this kind of thing, although expectations for a completely redesigned Apple Watch chassis turned out to be incorrect earlier this year. We expect to learn more about future Apple Watches as we work our way through next year.
