The Apple Vision Pro won’t get support for Apple Intelligence when the new software updates add it to the iPhone, Mac, and iPad in October and that’s a bone of contention for some. Although some features of Apple Intelligence will be coming to OG Vision Pro.
But now, a new report suggests that a new Apple Vision Pro 2 will launch in 2025 and be powered by a new M5 chip that allows for full Apple Intelligence support.
That’s according to supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who, writing on Medium, says that the M5 Apple Vision Pro is set to enter mass production in the second half of 2025.
The addition of an M5 chip will bring Apple Intelligence with it, but there will reportedly be no other hardware specs or designs that change considerably. The reason, we’re told, is that Apple will hope to reduce the cost of the headset to allow it to appeal to more customers.
The new M5-powered Vision Pro is expected to enter mass production in 2H25. The main selling point will be the integration of Apple Intelligence with spatial computing. The major hardware change will be the processor upgrade to the M5 (currently M2) to significantly improve computing power and ensure the best Apple Intelligence user experience. Other hardware specs and designs won’t change much, which should help lower costs and price points.
Notably, Kuo also then goes on to say that while the price of the new M5-powered Apple Vision Pro might not change all that much, its support for Apple Intelligence will be enough to drive mainstream adoption. That remains to be seen given the prices involved.
