Kodi 21.0 Omega RC1 APK for Android, and IPA for iOS, along with Windows and Mac versions has just been released for download. Here are the details.
The team behind the Kodi media jukebox software has announced the very first Release Candidate version of the Kodi 21 Omega update is now available for download and you can get it right now.
The new update was announced via a post on the Kodi website and it brings with it a warning that while this is deemed to be a release candidate, it’s a big update that could cause some issues for those who try it out. With that in mind, and as ever, we would suggest that people only install this release if they are sure they are ready to deal with any issues that may arise. The developer says that one change in particular has the potential to cause problems.
However, with a core change to FFmpeg 6.0, there is a very good chance that we’ll get some regressions As such, please be aware that installing this will most likely break things, and we’d really like your help at that point to identify the problems and get them fixed.
You can read a detailed list of changes on the Kodi website but many of them are under-the-hood which means that you are unlikely to notice them.
There are also known issues that are worth familiarizing yourself with including problems when seeking multi-party MP4 files on Android platforms and more.
There is currently no word on when we can expect the final release to be available to the public, but we’d suggest hanging fire unless you absolutely must run the latest version of Kodi at home.
