With Piictu having just brought filters to its image-sharing app, and Facebook also following the trend of its recent acquisition Instagram and allowing users to add filter effects before sharing, it’s fairly likely that every semi-popular socio-snap application will be getting a similar dose of the treatment.
Often criticized as one-dimensional, it’s refreshing to hear of an app that isn’t simply jumping on the Instagram bandwagon, and Kinotopic – which has gone free for today only – is a fantastic example of how fun an app can be when it breaks from the norm and offers something a little more unorthodox.
In a similar to the wonderful Frameographer app we recently featured, Kinotopic allows you to be truly creative, and with a little nous and initiative, can yield some stunning results. The concept is simple – you take or load a 3-4 second video clip, and then you select small portions to remain animated while the rest of the video is frozen still – such as a spinning wheel on a car video, or blinking eyes on a clip of an animal.
It has its own native sharing network too, so once you’ve animated your own images, you can see, like and comment on those of others. As someone who spends quite a significant amount of time using Instagram, Kinotopic is something of a breath of fresh air, and although creating images ready for sharing isn’t as quick as its billion-dollar counterpart, the little extra time spent at the proverbial drawing board means more interesting and downright fascinating end products can be achieved.
It has a neat interface and is incredibly easy to get started with. Thanks to the App-o-day promotion, Kinotopic is absolutely free to download, and by creating an account within the app, you can upgrade to the Pro version for no additional cost.
Although it does have its similarities to the aforementioned Frameographer app, it’s truly unique, and since you don’t have to part with your hard-earned dollars in order to give it ago, you owe it to your creative side to download it right now via the App Store link below!
