The If You Don’t Have An iPhone ads which were released back in March have been redone and re-released today, featuring a slightly altered tagline.
The older version of these ads featured different major differentiating features of the iPhone like the App Store with its 500,000+ apps, FaceTime and AirPlay. After showcasing said features, the narrator would state, “If you don’t have an iPhone, well, you don’t have an iPhone!” which, well, isn’t a very nice thing to say.
The newer ads released today change that tagline, albeit slightly, making the ads a lot more friendlier. They are essentially the same ads that were released in March, with just the narration changing at the end. The announcer now says, “The App Store – just one more thing that makes an iPhone, an iPhone”.
Today’s ad highlights how the world’s biggest mobile applications store – the App Store – is simply the largest (and arguably, the best) collection of mobile apps. Two apps are showcased in the ad: Fly Delta (which is great for managing your flights with Delta airlines) and Mobile Card (which lets you pay for coffee at Starbucks).
Here is the ad’s transcript:
If you don’t have an iPhone, you don’t have the App Store. So you don’t have the world’s largest selection of apps; that are this easy to find and this easy to download right to your phone. So it can be almost anything… like a boarding pass. Or do almost anything… like pay for your coffee.
The App Store – just one more thing that makes an iPhone, an iPhone.
Lastly, here the ad itself:
Apple’s outstanding marketing for their iOS devices – which highlight the very best features of their products – is one of the biggest reasons behind the outstanding success of said products. The ads are simple yet pack enough punch to make people ditch their old Nokia “smart”-phones and, for unhappy customers, their difficult to use Android smartphones.
While Android is a powerful platform, it isn’t as simple to use as the iPhone which is why your average Joe prefers an iPhone over an Android. Things just work on the iPhone while on Android they do take some work and yes, I speak from experience: I made my father get an HTC Desire for himself and he has trouble doing the simplest of things. Hand him an iPhone and he does everything himself!
