The wait is almost over for those who have been anxiously anticipating the release of the jOBS biopic starring Ashton Kutcher. We’ve been kept regularly informed about the progress of the movie from the beginning of shooting, with the odd official image being released along the way to show exactly how convincing Kutcher will be in his portrayal of the iconic Apple co-founder.
The distributors of the unofficial movie have announced that those interested in seeing the film will be able to attend theatres starting from April 19th to see Kutcher and the rest of the cast in action, meaning we have less than three months to wait. The movie hasn’t been backed by a huge budget, instead being put together through an indie development setup, but it has still managed to attract substantial hype due to the sections of Jobs’ life it will cover and the fact that one of Hollywood’s hottest stars is taking the lead role.
Although it will be released to theatres during April, this won’t be the first chance that we have to feast our eyes on the finished production. The movie has been given the privilege of making its debut as the closing film of this year’s Sundance Festival that will be taking place in Park City, Utah starting this Friday. Those attending the festival will have the first chance to witness the portrayal of Steve Jobs’ life from 1971 all the way through to 2000, a period of time that will show the founding of Apple, the development of NeXT and Pixar as well as his return to his original love.
The jOBS biopic has often been mistaken with the more official version of events that is in production and based on the Walter Isaacson biography that clawed its way to the top of the best sellers list when released. That version of events has been written by the famous Aaron Sorkin who has titles like The Social Network under his belt. jOBS has been put together based on information that is widely available in the public domain and therefore could contain some creative license on the director’s part.
It’s almost a guarantee, that come April 19th, movie theatres will be full of Apple and technology fans who have been waiting to see one of our great business icons on the big screen.
