Sony intends to make it possible for gamers to play its titles on iPhones and iPads if a new job advertisement is any indication.
First spotted by Eurogamer, the advertisement asks for a “Head of Mobile, PlayStation Studios, Sony Interactive Entertainment,” in California. It goes on to say that the role will focus on bringing PlayStation’s popular titles to mobile.
You will lead all aspects of the expansion of our game development from consoles and PCs to mobile & Live Services with a focus on successfully adapting PlayStation’s most popular franchises for mobile
PlayStation fans can already play their PS4 and PS5 games on an iPhone and iPad using the remote play feature, although it’s far from a stable experience. Is it possible that we could see the likes of God of War and Gran Turismo eventually come to the App Store?
Perhaps. Instead, it’s more likely we will see games that are specifically designed for mobile, like endless runners and kart racing games, rather than full-blown console games ported across to iPhones and iPads.
It’s likely we will see more PlayStation titles in the App Store eventually – just don’t expect them to compete with what you’re playing on your PS5 right now.
