The Evad3rs team has updated its famed Evasi0n tool to jailbreak iOS 6, 6.1, 6.1.2 with improved boot times. Some users were finding the post-jailbreak boot time was considerably longer than it should have been, but this latest update fixes all that. Those already jailbroken need not jailbreak again; instead check within your Cydia packages for the updated list, which should become apparent after a refresh.
With the news that Apple has plugged one of the key exploits used by the Evasi0n tool to jailbreak iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices running iOS 6.1.3 beta 2, it looks as though the eventual release of iOS 6.1.3 will prove an insurmountable task for the Evad3rs team. Planetbeing has already stated that, if one exploit is down, the whole jailbreak is basically finished, so if you want to keep your device free from Apple’s shackles, grab this Evasi0n update from Cydia but do not apply any such updates from Apple.
If you have yet to jailbreak your iOS 6 device and would like to, you can download Evasi0n for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux. The tool is pretty self-instructing all the way through, but if you are skeptical or want a guideline to refer to should you get stuck, check out our full-length how-to tutorial to jailbreak iOS 6.1 or jailbreak iOS 6.1.2. Be sure to download Evasi0n v1.5 (Windows, Mac and Linux) before going ahead with the tutorial.
Meanwhile, fellow jailbreak tool Sn0wbreeze has also been given a minor version bump. If you have never heard of Sn0wbreeze and thus, never used it, it’s likely the following doesn’t concern you, and you can instead refer to the Evasi0n info above. But for the sake of clarification, Sn0wbreeze is as separate tool created by seasoned jailbreak developer iH8sn0w. We showed you how to jailbreak using Sn0wbreeze 2.9.10 last week, and the same steps apply to this updated version.
Change log of version 2.9.11 is as follows:
Fixe[s] bug with Cydia having "compatibility-issues" with the untether package on 6.1.2.
Sn0wbreeze v2.9.11 is compatible with A4 based devices only. You can download Sn0wbreeze 2.9.11 from here.
So, there you have it. Hopefully, both should be free of any lingering bugs, but should any further updates surface, we’ll have all the details once again right here at Redmond Pie!
