Looking to jailbreak iOS 17.4 on your iPhone or iPad? Here is the latest status update that you may need to know about.
Apple has finally released iOS 17.4 to the public and it’s an update that brings with it plenty of improvements, especially if you happen to live in the EU. But as is always the case with new software updates some will be wondering whether it can be jailbroken. And in the case of iOS 17.4, the news isn’t great.
Jailbreaking might not be as popular as it once was but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t still some people who are keen to do it. But jailbreaking isn’t possible with iOS 17.4 because modern devices cannot be jailbroken. Those with an iPhone X-era device are also out of luck because while those devices have been jailbroken at the boot ROM level and Apple cannot patch that, these devices are not compatible with iOS 17.4 — meaning everyone is unfortunately out of luck.
The iOS 17.4 update is a big one and we would suggest that everyone install it. Those in the EU can look forward to support for third-party app stores as well as third-party browser engines, while developers can also offer third-party in-app payment systems there as well.
Globally, there are new emojis while the biggest change is the Podcasts app’s ability to show transcripts for episodes. The app will highlight words as they are spoken, allowing people to follow along.
