If you want to jailbreak iOS 16.1.2 on iPhone, here’s what you need to know regarding its latest status update.
Apple’s iOS 16.1.2 is now available for download and people are all asking the same question — can I jailbreak this release?
The answer to that, as is often the case, is completed and it will depend on the iPhone that you’re using at the moment.
If you’re using an iPhone 8 or iPhone X, for example, you’re good to go. Those iPhones were jailbroken at the bootrom level and, as a result, Apple can’t patch the exploit that is being used. That’s a good thing for jailbreakers, although you might still have to wait for the jailbreak tool of your choice to be updated and released to support iOS 16.1.2. But at least you know that it’s technically doable.
Things aren’t so great with newer iPhones like the iPhone 14 lineup. Those can’t be jailbroken no matter what, so you might just have to suck it up and accept that your jailbreaking days are over.
At least for now — the jailbreak scene is always working on finding new ways to hack iPhones, so you never know. A jailbreak could be just around the corner.
For now though, we’d suggest that you install Apple’s latest software update regardless. Especially if you want to benefit from the fixes that this update has to offer.
