Apple’s iOS 10 platform is not only being packed with full of new features and system improvements that were outlined as part of this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference, but it also contains new emoji characters that will directly appeal to individuals who like to express themselves via imagery in messages.
The Cupertino, California-based company has made an official announcement to let iOS device owners know that iOS 10 will also come with more than one hundred new and redesigned emoji characters when it launches for everyone this coming fall.
The possible addition of new emoji characters within the upcoming iOS 10 platform has been widely discussed over the last few months as part of Unicode 9.0 release, with Apple now making it publicly known that the redesigned platform will bring a whole heap of new characters that can be used throughout all messaging applications that support the native iOS 10 keyboard. Those new characters will include a number of updated emoji based on existing characters, as well as a range of new characters designed to reflect “the diversity of people everywhere.”:
This exciting update brings more gender options to existing characters, including new female athletes and professionals, adds beautiful redesigns of popular emoji, a new rainbow flag and more family options.
Apple is working closely with the Unicode Consortium to ensure that popular emoji characters reflect the diversity of people everywhere.
As part of the update, Apple is clearly looking to not only give iOS device owners experiencing iOS 10 the chance to better communicate with new and exciting emoji, but it is also looking to work directly with the Unicode Consortium to integrate new characters that accurately represent and portray the beautiful gender and racially diverse world that we all live in today.
You only have to look at them to see how stunning some of the new emoji characters will look when they make it onto all iOS 10 devices later this year. Here are some of them:
Apple’s next-generation iPhone is widely expected to launch during the month of September. It’s with the launch of that device that we will also welcome iOS 10 into the world officially, meaning that it’s only a matter of weeks until everyone will be able to express themselves with these stunning new emoji characters.
Apple’s iOS 10 beta 4 seeded to developers today already features all these new emoji characters.
