If you’re picking up a new Tesla Model S or Model X electric vehicle you might find that your new EV won’t have a feature that was available on previous models.
The news comes after a post on Reddit and X suggested that Tesla is getting ready to ditch support for Steam games.
Support for playing Steam games is something that has been a standout feature for flagship X and S vehicles for a few years now, but a new note suggests that Tesla is getting ready to make a change.
A screenshot shared by an X user user says that Tesla is updating the gaming computer that comes built into some vehicles and that there will be one fewer option as a result.
Tesla is updating the gaming computer in your Model X and your vehicle is no longer capable of playing Steam games. All other entertainment and app functionalities are unaffected.
Tesla is yet to officially confirm this move but it’s one that will no doubt be a disappointment to fans of the feature. The reason for making the change isn’t yet clear, but it’s been suggested that Tesla may have statistics that show it isn’t being used as much as we might think.
If that’s the case, Tesla could have chosen to remove the feature altogether in order to put its resources to good use elsewhere.
