Apple’s iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max smartphones are official. The hardware matches most of what the world already knew thanks to a number of leaks prior to this event. However, in addition to all of that information, Apple’s Phil Schiller has also lavished focus on the stunning OLED 120Hz touch-sensing displays that ship with both devices.
It’s no real secret that Apple has been trying to improve its display game on iPhone in recent years. iPhone may have always been extremely popular with consumers as an overall device but it has always been a common belief that a number of high-end Android devices bested the iPhone from a display perspective. That started to change with the release of iPhone X last year and the move across to OLED technology. Now, with the announcement of iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max, Apple has taken the display to the next level with 120Hz touch-sensing technology that makes the display a lot more responsive and the underlying UI and OS feel a lot more fluid and at one with the interactions of the device owner.
Apple will be offering iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max with 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch displays, respectively. Both of those displays are built with OLED technology offering 458 pixels-per-inch density and coming equipped with a 1-million-to-1 contrast ratio that essentially means Apple is offering an HDR display experience on both devices. Features like the 3D Touch and True Tone display are expected but Apple has really taken things to the next level as far as its own hardware is concerned with the addition of 120Hz touch-touch sensing technology.
The importance of this may not seem immediately evident but it will instantly be a better experience for anyone upgrading from earlier hardware to these latest two devices in the coming weeks.
Additionally, Apple is also offering amazing color accuracy and wide color support to finish off the list of display capabilities. The overarching improvements, such as the new A12 Bionic chip and the larger display in a smaller physical device, are taking iPhone beyond its past limits and work perfectly alongside the stunning and highly responsive touch-sensing displays.
