Finally! iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus prices for India has been announced by Apple. Here are the details.
Consumers in India potentially looking to grab an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus no longer need to go to extreme lengths to try and ascertain Apple’s pricing structure for the new hardware. With the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus launching in a number of countries globally today, Apple has updated the Indian version of its website to outline local pricing for the new hardware, as well as older iPhone models that will still be offered for sale in the Indian market.
Consumers in that particular market looking to get their hands on one of Apple’s new 4.7-inch iPhone 7 will be able to pick up what is now the entry-level 32GB version for Rs. 60,000, which is approximately $902. The price then rises by Rs. 10,000 with each upgraded model, with the 128GB version retailing at Rs. 70,000, or $1,045, and the 256GB version costing Rs. 80,000, or $1,195.
As you might expect, the prices start at a higher level for those that want to take advantage of the larger screen-real estate and the iSight-Duo camera in the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus. The equivalent iPhone 7 Plus entry-level model with 32GB of storage will start at Rs. 72,000 ($1,075). Indian residents can expect to part with Rs. 82,000, or ($1,225), for the 128GB iPhone 7 Plus model, and Rs. 92,000 ($1,375) for the top-end 256GB version of the hardware.
Now that the prices are live, giving those in India an understanding of exactly how much they have to part with for an iPhone 7 ownership, those consumers can sit and wait patiently for the new hardware to go on sale on October 7th.
Apple will also continue to sell the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus hardware in India, but will cease the sale of the entry-level 16GB version of the device with immediate effect. In replacement for those models, the Cupertino-based company has introduced a new 32GB version of last year’s iPhone, which will start at Rs. 50,000 for the iPhone 6s and Rs. 60,000 for the 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus. The smaller 4-inch iPhone SE will continue to be sold in the market, starting at Rs. 39,000 for the 16GB version, rising to Rs. 44,000 for the top-end 64GB model.
The heavy import duties imposed on Apple by the Indian government as a method of trying to increase local manufacturing continues to ensure that India remains one of the most expensive markets in which to purchase Apple hardware.
