iPhone 7 Benchmarks Show Up On Geekbench Ahead Of September 7 Unveil

Apple has yet to officially introduce the iPhone 7 range, but one of iPhone 7 models iPhone9,3 has allegedly turned up on Geekbench with associated single-core and multi-core scores that instantly give us an insight into the type of performance that we can expect from the company’s 2016 range, and make no mistake about it, it’s impressive.

Yesterday, a report from Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities attempted to provide a little additional insight into Apple’s new A10 processor with the claim that it would be clocked at up to 2.4GHz.

With the performance improvements made in iOS 10, the idea of a 2.4GHz A10 processor embedded in the iPhone 7 range immediately suggested that users could be in line for a significant performance upgrade. Today’s Geekbench revelations pretty much confirm that to be true, especially in comparison to the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 or the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge.

If the results are indeed from Apple’s latest smartphone offering, then the device managed to rack up an impressive single-core score of 3379 and a multi-core score of 5495. To the average device owner looking at those numbers, it may not initially highlight just how impressive that is, but when you consider that Samsung’s Exynos 8890 Galaxy Note 7 notched up a single-core score of 2067.66, and Apple’s own iPhone 6s Plus, which is the current Apple flagship, produced a single-core score of 2562, you get an instant appreciation for the improved performance levels that we can expect from the soon-to-be-announced iPhone 7.

With a multi-core score of 5495, the iPhone 7 is trailing behind the numbers of Exynos 8890 Galaxy Note 7, which managed a multi-core score of 6100, but that is purely because Exynos 8890 is a Octa-Core chip compared to Dual-Core A10 in iPhone 7. For a Dual-Core chip, the score of 5495 is might impressive, especially when comparing to Snapdragon 820 Quad-Core variant of Galaxy Note 7 which clocked 5511 points during the same tests.

It’s very interesting to note that the information logged against the purported iPhone 7 is shown to be running iOS 10.1.

With Apple expected to officially unveil the device this coming Wednesday at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, hopefully some of our questions, and all of the current unknowns, will be answered post haste.
