Now that Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2016) is out of the way, attention has firmly turned to the iPhone 7, with an announcement and subsequent release expected sometime around September, and as always, the rumors are coming thick and fast. A new leak coming out of Chinese social network Weibo claims to have details on pricing for the unannounced smartphone as well as the iPhone 7 Plus and, interestingly, an iPhone 7 Pro.
Kicking off with the pricing, things are pretty much in line with what we would expect from a premium iPhone, although perhaps the most obvious and striking part of the prices shared is the addition of a 256GB model.
Rumors had already suggested that Apple was getting ready to up the maximum capacity that an iPhone would be available with starting from this year, but this is the first time we’ve seen anything that comes close to confirming what the rest of the lineup would look like for 2017.
The claimed pricing structure for the new iPhone models depict a collection of devices that would include 32GB, 64GB, and 256GB models for the iPhone 7 but with 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB options available for the iPhone 7 Plus and an entirely new iPhone Pro line. Rumors had previously claimed that Apple would ditch the much-maligned 16GB base option for the iPhone, so if these prices are correct, it looks like that will come to fruition, finally! The claimed prices, converted from Chinese yuan, are quoted as follows:
iPhone 7 32GB: ~$800 | 64GB: ~$930 | 256GB: ~$1080
iPhone 7 Plus 32GB: ~$925 | 128GB: ~$1050 | 256GB: ~$1200
iPhone 7 Pro 32GB: ~$1080 | 128GB: ~$1200 | 256GB: ~$1350

As for what the rumored iPhone 7 Pro could be, leaks had previously claimed that an iPhone with dual-camera setup would be offered by Apple, though we are not sure that alone would justify the alleged addition of $150 over the price tag of the iPhone 7 Plus. If Apple is going to announce not just an iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus but also a new Pro designation later this year, it would be another example of Apple’s clean product lines becoming yet further muddied. With so many iPhone SKUs available, Apple runs the risk of confusing customers unnecessarily, and that’s never a good idea.
Is it September yet?
