iPhone 6s Keynote And Release Date Leaked? [Rumor]

According to a newly published report, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus keynote event and launch dates have been revealed.

The information comes in from MICGadget, which claims to have heard from Foxconn that the Cupertino giant has scheduled its iPhone 6s/6s Plus keynote event for the 11th of September, which happens to be a Friday. This will be followed by the launch of the handsets exactly a week later on the 18th, which too happens to be a Friday.

Apple has historically favored Fridays for releasing its new products. Last year’s iPhone 6 keynote was held on a Tuesday, the 9th of September with the device going on sale next week on Friday, September 19th. Thus the launch date of 18th of September for this year does make sense. Also, Apple would want to launch the new handset as close as possible to contract expiration for early iPhone adopters.

Though it is still unlikely that Apple would hold a keynote event, or any event for that matter, on the 11th of September, given the significance of the day for everyone in the U.S. There is no way that Apple would want to announce a new smartphone on a day of national mourning.

So while September 18th could very well be the day Apple launches its new smartphones, September 11th for keynote day looks very unlikely.

The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will reportedly be similar in design to the current handsets, but with non-discernible changes to its dimensions which will make room for a Force Touch panel. A recent photo leak of the iPhone 6s logic board has further revealed that the new smartphones will also sport newer, faster chips for both LTE and NFC.

As for cameras, there’s increasing speculation that a 12-megapixel rear-shooter with 4K video recording is on the cards, while the front-facing camera will get significantly upgraded with 5-megapixel sensor and flash.

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are also rumored to feature 2GB of RAM, giving the devices a significant bump in performance when compared to the current generation iPhone 6. It’s also being rumored that the iPhone 6s will feature a 1080p display while the panel on the iPhone 6s Plus would be of the 2K variety.
