With the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus set to go on sale this coming Friday, September 25th, Apple has now officially sold out of all models that were previously available to pre-order via its online store. While some models were still available for delivery on launch day, the earliest an iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus can be with you if you order right now is September 29th, with most configurations showing October 8th to 13th delivery time.
While the iPhone 6s Plus has been sold out for a little while now, the iPhone 6s has continued to be available for a full week following its September 12th pre-order date. Apple has yet to say exactly how many iPhones it has sold, only confirming that it is on course to beat last year’s 10 million unit record for opening weekend sales. How that is split between iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus handsets is anyone’s guess, and Apple isn’t likely to tell us.
The news that Apple has only just sold out of all iPhone models for launch day may suggest that it has not sold as many as in past years given the fact they normally sell out much quicker. What is more likely this time around however is that Apple simple managed to build more units before they needed to start leaving worldwide warehouses – a possibility made more probable given Apple’s insistance that this year’s sales will outpace last year’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus shipments.
With online sales now pushed beyond September 25th delivery, the best way of getting one on launch day if you haven’t already ordered is to simply get in line early on Friday. Apple has confirmed that some handsets will be available for walk-in buyers, though the number of available handsets may be small depending on the store you visit.
