It is clearly evident from the early sales figures that Apple’s latest iPhone has resonated with the smartphone community. The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch jumbo-sized iPhone 6 Plus are flying off bricks and mortar and digital shelves in every country they are available in, with the Cupertino company adding more territories weekly. Tim Cook’s company has also acted quickly to put recent India based speculation to rest by issuing a press release to announce that both iPhone 6 models will be available in the South Asian country on October 17, with pre-orders becoming available even earlier.
The issuance of the official Apple press release will come as exiting and positive news for Indian consumers who have sat back and watched as the latest iPhone hardware is made available in a host of new countries, with China being the most recent territory to have pre-orders made available. Once upon a time it would have been almost unheard of for Apple to launch its latest and most powerful hardware in developing markets and emerging economies so early. With that said, recent history has shown that the fruit company is keen to gain traction in these countries by embracing and offering the latest products to what is essentially a huge and globally important marketplace.
Anyone based in India who is looking to get in on the iPhone 6 action will be able to do so through the pre-order system as early as the morning of October 7, 2014. Any order placed will be processed through the Apple online system and held for delivery until the evening of October 16, according to reports in the country. Those who wish to go out and see the devices in person, to gauge size and color preference, will be able to do so at a number of official reseller outlets in the country when they are launched on October 17, 2014.
That’s the release date covered, but what about the all important price of the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus in India? Apple haven’t officially released a pricing schedule for the hardware, but reportedly a number of the authorized resellers have started the process of issuing price lists to customers. Prices for the iPhone 6 will reportedly start at Rs. 53, 500, which equates to approximately $868. The 128GB version of the 4.7-inch device will sell for Rs. 71,500 ($1160). Those looking to welcome to iPhone 6 Plus into their lives will have to part with Rs. 62,500 ($1014) for the entry-level 16GB model, Rs. 71,500 ($1160) for the 64GB version or Rs. 80,500 ($1305) for the 128GB variant.
