As we approach October – the probable release of the next generation iPhone 5S and the rumored budget iPhone – the rumor mill and leaks are piling up even further, and in much larger amounts than ever before. Now, Macotakara has posted a leaked video that shows in much better detail the front and back panels of what could most likely be the new, rumored “budget” iPhone. Video just past the jump.
Being dubbed as the “iPhone 5C”, the budget iPhone is believed to be considerably cheaper than the original one, will have a plastic back and front panel while maintaining somewhat similar innards as its more pricier sibling, and will be aimed specifically at low-cost markets such as China and Middle East. If the leaked video, which is a very high quality render, by the way, is of any credibility, that not only fits the bill, but is also similar to what the previous leaks have shown.
The video also puts the panels for the iPhone 5C next to an original iPhone 5, to give a reference point as to how stark the difference really is. Indeed, the cheap plastic panel looks nothing compared to the shiny elegant finish of the aluminum on the iPhone 5, but hey, as long as the housed horsepower is comparable, we’re not complaining.
It’s particularly interesting to see how the rumors continue to grow both is size and numbers as the actual announcement approaches, and if past experience has told us anything, it’s that they have all the potential to be true. However, with this particular rumor around a budget version of the iPhone, we’re skeptical, considering as how it continued to mount even last year as well when the announcement of iPhone 5 was closing, and turned out to be nothing but just that – a rumor!
On a side note, Apple has established a name and reputation for itself in manufacturing premium, high quality products, and it’s kind of hard to picture how the fruit company would fare with such a low-quality, low cost device. That said, Apple has been facing continuous hardship at the hands of Android, in particular, owing to the fact that these devices come from various manufacturers in all shapes and sizes, and price ranges, and are inarguably more popular in the budget markets. From a business perspective the Cupertino company would be wise to cover all its bases through such a move, especially if it can result in larger sales revenues.
As time is moving forward, puzzles are starting to come together, for example it was just a while back when the purported 8MP iPhone 5C camera sensor surfaced. We’re certain that it won’t be long till we face more leaks like these.
