According to a recent note from analyst Jeff Pu, the upcoming iPhone 17 Air might be one of the sleekest smartphones ever.
If the rumors are true, MacRumors who accessed this note, tells us that this model could be just 6mm thick, making it the slimmest iPhone to date. For context, the current record-holder, the iPhone 6, measures 6.9mm.
While this ultra-thin design would still fall short of Apple’s thinnest device ever — the 5.1mm 13-inch iPad Pro — it’s a notable step forward. An iPhone that’s even slimmer and lighter than the iPhone 16 lineup, which ranges from 7.8mm to 8.25mm. That’s a significant trim considering the increasingly hefty builds of recent models.
Pu isn’t the only one fueling these rumors. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to sport a 6.6-inch display, aluminum frame, and Apple’s trademark Dynamic Island.
Other potential specs include a single 48-megapixel rear camera, a 24-megapixel front shooter, 12GB of RAM, and an A19 chip paired with an in-house 5G modem.
Of course, we’re still a long way from the iPhone 17 Air’s official debut, likely in September 2025. Details could shift as Apple fine-tunes its design, but we could be looking a just thinner but packed with features aimed at delivering a premium experience.
