Apple’s big September 9 event is over and we now know everything there is to know about the new iPhone lineup, and it brings with it the biggest iPhone display ever.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max is about more than just a new display though, and there are other reasons that existing iPhone 15 Pro Max owners might want to consider upgrading.
The first thing that people will no doubt notice is that display, though. The iPhone 16 Pro Maxc sports a new, larger 6.9-inch display while the older model tops out at 6.7 inches. Beyond that, the two displays are the same however, so don’t expect anything to jump out at you the first time you turn your new iPhone on.
The other external change that you’ll notice when you unbox your new iPhone is the Camera Control button. Designed to give people a quick and easy way to launch the Camera app, the button can also be used to quickly interact with camera tools and take shots, too. The iPhone 15 Pro Max has no such button, obviously.
The other improvements are on the inside, with the A18 Pro being a speedy upgrade over the A17 Pro found in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. That’ll enable improved app and gaming performance, while a new thermal system should ensure the iPhone 16 Pro Max doesn’t get as warm as its predecessor.
In terms of cameras, Apple’s new model comes with an upgraded 48-megapixel ultra wide camera while support for Dolby Vision at up to 4K and 120fps offers a new video capture option. Latest-generation Photographic Styles are also included, while Apple says the new iPhones can run for longer on a single charge as well. Finally, the iPhone 16 Pro Max includes support for new MagSafe charging speeds of up to 25W.
