The iPhone 15 Pro added the Action button to the mix of different ways to interact with the device, and it can be used in a whole variety of ways.
Now, a new report claims that Apple is getting ready to not only bring the Action button down the lineup to the iPhone 16, but it also intends to add another button entirely as well.
That’s according to Weibo leaker Instant Digital who says that there is a “great chance” that Apple will add an extra button to the iPhone 16. The button itself will reportedly sit flush with the edge of the iPhone and be a solid-stage one rather than a clicky one.
This backs up a previous report by MacRumors from September which claimed that Apple was working on something called the Capture button. That button is expected to arrive on the right-side of the iPhone, below the power button.
Apple has reportedly been working on it for a while, but it isn’t yet clear what the button will actually do.
The information shared by Instant Digital echoes details that MacRumors published in late September highlighting the extra button that is expected to come to the iPhone 16. Apple is calling this button the “Capture Button” internally, but it continues to be unclear what exactly it will be used for. The button will be located under the power button on the right side of the device, and it will be a capacitive button rather than a standard button.
We’ll have to wait a good long while before we can find out, too. Apple isn’t expected to unveil the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models until September 2024.
