Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will both benefit from some notable design changes according to a new note from analyst Jeff Pu.
The research note Hong Kong investment firm Haitong International Securities, seen by MacRumors, has Pu noting that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will both feature a new titanium frame and solid-state buttons, removing more potential ways for water to get into the devices.
Pu also reports that he expects Apple to increase the RAM of the Pro models from 6GB to 8GB, giving the devices a third more RAM than the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Notably, all of these claims have already been made by other analysts or leakers, with Ming-Chi Kuo and “ShrimpApplePro” pointing to iPhone 15 Pro changes in recent weeks. The move away from clicky buttons would also mean the use of new Taptic Engines to simulate the use of a physical button.
Pu also believes that Apple’s Pro models will benefit from an A17 Bionic chip based on TSMC’s 3nm process, while the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will stick to the older A16 Bionic.
All four models are expected to switch to a USB-C port away from Lightning, while a Qualcomm Snapdragon X80 modem is expected to offer 5G and LTE connectivity.
If all goes according to expectations we can expect Apple to announce the entire iPhone 15 lineup in or around September 2023.
