Apple’s just announced that it will be streaming an event on September 12 with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro lineups the most likely reason.
Now, a new report claims that Apple expects the best of those new models to also be the most popular.
Writing in a Medium post, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max accounts for the majority of Apple’s next-generation shipments, suggesting that Apple expects that to be the model that it needs the biggest stocks of in order to meet demand.
iPhone 15 Pro Max, the most expensive iPhone, accounts for 35–40% of iPhone 15 series shipments, the highest share. iPhone 15 Pro Max shipments in 2H24 also grew 10–20% YoY compared to iPhone 14 Pro Max in the same period. It means Apple is optimistic about the selling point of the periscope, which is only available in iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max will be the first to offer a new periscope camera lens that is expected to offer up to 6x optical zoom, according to leaks and rumors to date.
That could be enough to push buyers to the biggest and best iPhone that Apple has to offer, despite rumors of a price increase that could see the new model cost as much as $200 more than the one that it will replace in Apple’s lineup.
The new iPhones are expected to be released to the world on September 22 following that September 12 unveiling.
