Following reports that Apple is not planning on shipping leather iPhone 15 cases this year, it now appears that there will at least be something similar — although it might not feel like the popular cases of previous generations.
With leather being a no-go this time around it appears that Apple will instead offer a fake leather alternative that may look like an animal-based product without actually being made from animal skin.
Now, leakers Majin Bu and DuanRui have both shared images to X of what appears to be these new faux leather offerings. The images are the same and were apparently sourced from an unlinked Weibo post.
Those images show what appears to be a purple case that looks similar to the leather cases we’re familiar with, including the soft inner lining that ensures iPhones don’t get scratched. However, the report by Majin Bu claims that the new cases “should have a different texture” compared to the previous iterations.
It isn’t clear yet whether Apple will reduce the cost of the new not-leather cases or if they will continue to cost a premium over the other cases Apple sells, but the move away from leather will no doubt prove popular among the company’s vegetarian and vegan fanbase.

There are of course other leather iPhone cases available form third-party companies should people want to use one for their new iPhone 15 when it goes on sale next month.
