Apple’s iPhone 15 lineup is expected to be announced in just a few short weeks and now a new report claims that Samsung Display is already starting to mass produce its displays. But there are issues elsewhere within Apple’s supply chain.
According to a new report by The Elec, Samsung Display will begin mass production of all four iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models’ displays starting today, while BOE isn’t expected to be involved this year.
LG Display will also produce some iPhone 15 Pro displays, it’s claimed.
However, while iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro displays are on the way, problems have been discovered with the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s new periscope camera. The camera will feature a new lens design that should allow for improved zoom, with LG Innotek and Sony involved in producing different parts. However, things aren’t going well.
The production yield of Folded Zoom for Pro Max models and Actuator for Folded Zoom, which Sony’s image sensor, LG Innotek, will supply for the first time this year, is below expectations.
It isn’t clear whether that will have the effect of delaying the iPhone 15 Pro Max or just make it harder to actually buy one come September release time, but it can’t be good news for people who want to get their hands on Apple’s very best iPhone as soon as possible.
