Apple’s new iPhone 14 Pro goes on sale in a matter of hours and one of the standout features is a new always-on display mode.
Now that we’re starting to see reviews of the iPhone 14 Pro, we’re also beginning to see how that feature works as well. And it turns out it works with a number of apps.
The apps that are currently supported include Apple Maps, Phone, and Voice Memos as shown in Brian Tong’s video review on YouTube linked below.
There’s also support for the Voice Memos and Apple TV remote apps (via CNBC), too. That means that you’ll still be able to see and interact with these apps while the always-on display is active.
The new iPhone 14 Pro is capable of reducing its screen’s refresh rate to just 1Hz, a move that Apple hopes will save battery life.
That appears to largely work, although some early reviews do suggest that there is some impact on overall battery life when the always-on display used.
Those picking up a new iPhone 14 Pro will also benefit from an improved 48-megapixel camera, while the Apple A16 Bionic chip will also ensure that apps and animations zip along nice and smoothly. The new Dynamic Island also replaces the notch on the iPhone 14 Pro models, giving the device a new way to display some notifications and alerts.
