Those looking to pick up a new iPhone 14 later this year are set to pay the same as they would if they bought an iPhone 13, according to a new report. While the world is experiencing rampant inflation, a new claim has Apple keeping the existing $799 starting price for iPhone 14.
The report comes via the account “yeux1122” on the Korean blog Naver and was first reported by MacRumors.
According to that report, Apple will keep the same price in an attempt to deal with the global smartphone demand slowdown, with the leaker saying that the decision was made “at the top executive level,” although that is as far as things go.
Apple’s iPhone 14 is set to be the entry-level device for this year’s refresh, coming with a 6.1-inch display and the A15 Bionic chip that currently powers the iPhone 13 lineup. Those wanting a new chip will need to go Pro, while those are also the only devices set to get a new 48-megapixel camera and replace the notch with a new pill + hole design.
If all goes according to expectations we should see Apple announce the new iPhone lineup in or around September, with an iPhone 14 being joined by iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. We also expect Apple to ship new Apple Watches around the same time, too.
If Apple is indeed going to keep the same price for iPhone 14, it seems likely that iPhone 14 Pro will follow suit, but we will need to wait a few weeks to find out for sure.
