iPhone 13 Still Does Not Show Battery Percentage Despite Smaller Notch

Apple’s new iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max all have a smaller notch than we are used to — but that doesn’t mean that Apple is going to make use of that extra screen real estate. And it certainly isn’t giving us something so useful as a battery percentage.

When Apple confirmed that the notch is getting smaller on new iPhones, many had hoped we would see the return of an on-screen battery percentage.

But as noted by people across Twitter after diving into Xcode, that isn’t the case at all. That being despite the fact there is plenty of space for it on an iPhone 13 Pro Max’s screen.

The @AppleSWUpdates Twitter account sums it up.

According to the Xcode Simulator, even though there’s enough space on iPhone 13 Pro Max, it still doesn’t show the battery percentage #AppleEvent

There is still hope that Apple could enable the feature in the future via a setting and we can only hope that is indeed the case. Apple offers a battery percentage on non-Face ID devices, but ditched it from the iPhone X onwards due to a lack of space caused by the notch. Now it’s shrinking, surely it’s time we got that valuable information back?

The iPhone 13 lineup has significantly improved battery life compared to last years models thanks to an interior redesign, which has also helped keep the dimensions of the phone identical to the iPhone 12.
