iPadOS 19 Bringing Mac-Like Features To The iPad

Big changes are on the horizon for the iPad, and it’s about time. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is cooking up a major update for iPadOS 19—and it’s going to make the iPad feel a lot more like a Mac.

Now, before you get too excited, no, Apple isn’t slapping full macOS onto the iPad.

But the update will reportedly focus on things like productivity, multitasking, and better app window management. Basically, all the things power users have been begging for over the years.

This isn’t just a small tweak either. It’s part of a bigger wave of updates coming to Apple’s ecosystem. iOS 19 is set to bring a major iPhone redesign, and even the Mac is getting its first visual refresh in five years. So yeah, Apple’s going all in this year.

iPads have had killer hardware for a while now—seriously, they’ve been outperforming the software for years. But the OS hasn’t really kept up, which has frustrated a lot of users who want to use the iPad as a true productivity machine.

Gurman says this year’s update is a step in that direction. And while it won’t completely erase the gap between iPadOS and macOS, it sounds like Apple is finally listening.
