iPadOS 18 For M4 iPad Pro Bricking Issue Made Apple Pull The Update

Apple has pulled iPadOS 18 final version for M4 iPad Pro after bricking issue has been discovered in the firmware. Here are the details on this development.

As you may already know by now, Apple released final version of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 on September 16 for everyone around the world.

The update brought a ton of new features including ability to deeply customize iPhone and iPad Home Screen, among other things. While Apple Intelligence isn’t part of 18.0 release yet, it’s coming with 18.1 update later next month.

A number of users on social media, Reddit, and even Apple forums, have complained about having issue when installing the new iPadOS 18 on M4 iPad Pro models.

Some ‌iPad Pro‌ users on Reddit have reported interruptions during the installation process, resulting in devices that won’t power on, ultimately requiring full replacements.

I just took it to the Apple Store who confirmed it’s completely bricked, but they said they had to send it out to their engineers before they can give me a replacement even though I have Apple care.

While not all M4 ‌iPad Pro‌ owners experienced issues, the problem may be related to installing the iOS 17.7 update before upgrading to iOS 18. Apple is expected to re-release the software once the root cause is resolved.
