Apple made iPadOS 14.5 beta 1 available to developers earlier this week and we’re still learning about some of the changes that have gone into it.
A couple of the changes are fixes that we’ve been crying out for and now they’re coming. Those changes include the ability to search for emoji, just like on the iPhone, as well as a new landscape Apple logo when the iPad is booting in that orientation.
While the Apple logo situation was nothing more than an irritation that most wouldn’t run into all that often, the emoji search improvement is a big one.
With iPadOS 14.5 installed users will be able to open the emoji picker and then spy a new search field. Entering a search term will see the iPad present only the emoji that it thinks are well suited.
Apple’s iPadOS 14.5 update is now in the hands of developers but has yet to be made available to those on the public beta program.
With that in mind, it’s unknown how long we could have to wait before the update is made available to everyone around the globe.
Apple often runs through a half-dozen betas before it deems an update ready for everyone, so it could be a few weeks before iPadOS 14.5 is made available to us all.
