Here are iOS 18.5 beta 1 changes, release notes and new features that you may want to check out as an iPhone user.
Apple released the first developer beta of iOS 18.5 yesterday, and people have been installing the update to see what it has to offer. Unlike iOS 18.4, the new release doesn’t appear to have too many big improvements, but there are some changes to note.
This update may be one of the smallest of late, but Apple is likely hard at work on getting iOS 19 ready for its initial developer beta in June. The update won’t be released until September, though.
As for iOS 18.5, it’s now possible to toggle Contact Photos on and off from within the three-dot menu within the Mail app for the first time. Group By Sender can also be toggled, too. The two options do exist in iOS 18.4, but users must dig into the Settings app to find them.
Apple has also tweaked the AppleCare section of the Settings app to show a new banner with an AppleCare logo. There is also a new option to manage your AppleCare coverage, too.
None of these changes is likely to drive iPhone owners to upgrade to iOS 18.5, but we can expect bug fixes and more to be added before the end of the beta cycle. As for when that will happen, it’s likely iOS 18.5 will be released to the public in May.
