iOS 18.2 final release date has apparently been set for this day. Here are the details on this.
Apple has already announced that iOS 18.2 will drop in December, but a more specific date appears to have leaked. This potential release date comes from a heads-up that British carrier EE gave its customers. In the notice, EE mentioned it’s pulling the plug on a feature called “Wi-Fi calling on other supported iCloud-connected devices” on December 9.
For those unfamiliar, this feature lets you make Wi-Fi calls on devices like your iPad or Mac, even when your iPhone isn’t nearby.
Interestingly, the second iOS 18.2 developer beta which was released last week, included updated EE carrier settings (version 60.5.2, up from 59.5.1). This update removed the “Add Wi-Fi Calling For Other Devices” toggle for EE users, lining up with the carrier’s plan to pull the feature.
It is important to note that most carrier setting changes usually roll out alongside iOS updates unless they’re quick bug fixes. So, EE’s timing hints pretty strongly at a December 9 iOS 18.2 release. While nothing’s set in stone, this seems like a safe bet.
It also makes sense when you think about Apple’s typical schedule. They’ve already said the update is coming in December, and Monday releases are pretty standard. Plus, Apple tends to avoid dropping major updates in the latter half of the month and with the holiday season coming in it becomes further unlikely.
