Apple has just confirmed iOS 18.1 final version release date along with availability timeframe of AirPods Pro 2 Hearing Aid features. Here are the details.
The timings of both iOS 18.1 and AirPods Pro 2 Hearing Aid feature availability comes from reviewers who have been given access to the aforementioned new feature of AirPod Pro 2, and Apple has informed them that both new firmwares will be available next week, which if a previous report is anything to go by, will likely be set for October 28.
The new AirPods Pro 2 firmware, which is coming same time as iOS 18.1, includes three main features: hearing protection, hearing testing, and hearing aid functionality.
As for iOS 18.1, it’s the first iOS 18 update which includes support for Apple Intelligence on compatible devices. Apple initially announced Apple Intelligence coming as part of iOS 18.0 update back in June but later delayed it for iOS 18.1 release.
iOS 18.1 has been in beta for a number of weeks now and is currently available to both developers and public beta testers. It seems like Apple will seed RC version of iOS 18.1 this week, followed by final public version next week on October 28.
Apple is also expected to unveil new M4-based MacBook Pros, iMac and Mac mini before end of October. The company announced iPad mini refresh just last week in the form of a press release. It’s as yet not confirmed whether Apple will announce new M4 Macs as part of a press release this week, or in the form of keynote event held at its campus.
