Apple is very much expected to announce the iOS 18 software update at the WWDC event in June, with new software also likely to be announced in June.
And while a new report claims that Apple’s iOS 18 update will bring with it some notable interface redesigns, it also warns that we shouldn’t expect any big new changes when the macOS update rolls around.
That report, coming from Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter for Bloomberg tells us that that some new interface tweaks are coming to the iPhone later this year.
However, despite rumors that Apple would be taking some design cues from the Apple Vision Pro, Gurman says that isn’t the case after all. What’s more, any big design changes that are coming to the Mac aren’t expected to debut this year.
Gurman writes that “the company is indeed working to update the design of iOS as early as this year, but I don’t believe it will be a total overhaul that mirrors visionOS”. He goes on to add that the macOS redesign isn’t likely to be ready until 2025 or 2026, however, it isn’t yet clear what the design will mean for iPhone or Mac users.
If Apple follows its usual release cadence we can expect it to share details of the new updates in June before making beta versions available to developer and public testers. After that, the software updates are likely to roll out to users around the globe in September.
