Apple is strongly expected to debut the iOS 18 iPhone software update at an event in June and now we’re starting to see more and more information leak as we get closer to the big day.
Now, a new report suggests that we can expect some big Calendar upgrades when the software arrives on devices later this year.
Writing for AppleInsider, Marko Zivkovic cites unnamed sources when saying that Apple is testing a new version of Calendar that will allow people to enter tasks and then have them appear in the Reminders app for the first time. No such integration is available currently.
Tapping or right-clicking an area within the Day, Week, or Month views in pre-release versions of the new Calendar app will reveal an option that prompts the user to either set a reminder or schedule an event. Both can be scheduled from the same UI element, allowing for greater convenience.
The report goes on to say that adding a reminder via the Calendar app will allow people to select a title, add a note, and choose a tag for easier organization and locating of reminders later.
If Apple sticks to its usual release pattern we expect iOS 18 to be announced at WWDC on June 10 before entering into a months-long beta program. That program will most likely be completed in September, with iOS 18 expected to be released shortly before the arrival of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro.
