Apple has now released the iOS 18 beta 1 in OTA update download form and here’s how you can go about installing it on your iPhone.
Apple’s beta releases are now in the hands of developers following the iOS 18 unveiling at WWDC 2024. It’s still going to be a few months before Apple releases the new software to the public and while a public beta program will be available soon, developers are currently the only ones able to install iOS 18 on their own iPhones.
Actually installing iOS 18 is pretty easy so long as you are a registered developer. We’re going to assume that you are here, and you’ll be pleased to know that installing the iOS 18 beta is essentially the same as the previous releases, too.
Here’s what you need to do to install the iOS 18 beta on your iPhone.
Step 1: Open the Settings app and choose General followed by Software Update.
Step 2: Tap Beta Updates.
Step 3: Change the Apple ID that is configured if needed. It can be different from the one you’re using as your main iPhone Apple ID so long as it’s registered on Apple’s developer program.
Step 4: Select the iOS 18 Developer Beta option.
Step 5: Return to the Software Update screen and choose Download and Install. Enter your passcode if prompted and agree to the Terms & Conditions.
That’s all there is to it. After a restart, you’ll be running the very first iOS 18 beta!
