iOS 17.1 Update Adds iPhone 15 Pro’s Flashlight Indicator To Other Dynamic Island Models

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have both been on sale for almost a week now and they have one odd feature that other models don’t — they give you a Dynamic Island notification whenever you’re using the iPhone’s flashlight. Now, it seems that iOS 17.1 will bring that same feature to other models, too.

Why the feature is only available on the best iPhones right now isn’t clear. But Apple made the first iOS 17.1 beta available to developers yesterday and it brings with it a treat for other iPhone owners in the form of the same flashlight Dynamic Island situation.

9to5Mac picked up on the change. noting that it can be a super useful feature.

If you have no idea what this flashlight indicator is, it’s something that Apple has added to the new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. For some reason, only these models show an indicator on the Dynamic Island to tell you when the flashlight is on. This is very useful when you forget to turn off the flashlight after using it or when you accidentally press the flashlight button.

The change means that iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max users will now see the same flashlight notification when it’s in use — likely when they left it turned on and forgot about it, as we all tend to do.

The iOS 17.1 beta is now in the hands of developers and we can expect the final release to be made available to the public within the next few weeks.
