When Apple releases iOS 17 to the world on September 18 it’ll bring with it more than 20 new ringtones — the first time new ringtones have been added to existing iPhones since 2007.
Apple hasn’t officially announced the new ringtones but they are already available in the latest iOS 17 Release Candidate update.
MacRumors says that while Reflection continues to be the default option, there are plenty of new ones for people to try out. They include Arpeggio, Breaking, Canopy, Chalet, Chirp, Daybreak, Departure, Dollop, Journey, Kettle, Mercury, Milky Way, Quad, Radial, Scavenger, Seedling, Shelter, Sprinkles, Steps, Storytime, Tease, Tilt, Unfold, and Valley.
The new ringtones are longer in length, while Apple has also revamped the layout of the Settings app to make it clear which ringtones are new.
Compared to the old ringtones, many of the new ringtones are longer in length and sound more modern. Apple has moved all of the prior ringtones to the “Classic” section so they are still accessible for those who prefer options like Illuminate, Night Owl, Constellation, and Twinkle.

Apple has also reportedly added more than 10 new Text Tones that can be selected for use when new messages are received, too.
The iOS 17 update is coming to all iPhone XR and newer models and will be preinstalled on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro handsets when they go on sale on September 22.
