iOS 16.4 Beta 2 New Features, Changes, And More

Apple’s iOS 16.4 beta 2 release is now available for download which means you’re probably wondering what’s new. The short answer is that not an awful lot, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some tweaks worth noting.

It’s likely to be a few weeks before iOS 16.4 is released to the public so hang tight if you aren’t on the developer or public beta programs.

If you are, these are the changes that you can expect to see after downloading iOS 16.4 beta 2.

Apple Books Page Turning

Apple Books now has an animation when turning the page. The animation was removed from iOS 16 in September last year, but now it’s back.

Advanced 5G support

Apple appears to have enabled 5G Standalone support for Brazilian carriers Vivo and TIM Brazil, while 9to5Mac says that Japanese carrier Softbank is also likely to come online in a future release.

Apple Pay in South Korea

South Koreans will be able to get their hands on Apple Pay pretty soon if code found in iOS 16.4 hints at anything. Just a month back news had dropped in that South Korea’s regulatory body had approved Apple Pay for rollout in the country.

Apple Music Classical

New references suggest that Apple Music Classical is back in the cards. A new message found in the beta reads “To listen in Apple Music Classical, you’ll need to install Apple Music.”

AppleCare Improvements

Checking AppleCare coverage on an iPhone now displays the correct icons beside each device.

Always On Display

For some reason, Apple decided to move the Always On Display toggle a couple of rows below from its original position.

New Podcasts Loading Screen

Apple has added a new loading screen for the Podcasts app. It explains the new features that are coming to the app including improved Up Next and CarPlay features.

Apple is likely to release a few more betas before making the iOS 16.4 update available to everyone, so it’s possible we will see yet more tweaks before that happens.
