Apple’s iOS 15 update allows you to put more than one icon for the same app on your Home screen for the first time. But don’t get excited – it’s likely more bug than a feature.
The whole thing is a byproduct of the Focus feature found in iOS 15, with users able to create different Home screens for different situations.
That means that apps need to be able to live on multiple screens at once. Or, if you prefer, you can just put them all on one Home screen instead.
To go about this, you simply need to drag and drop the app from the App Library onto the Home screen, no matter if the icon already exists on the Springboard. For the uninitiated, simply press and hold on an app icon, and place it on the Home scree. Your existing icon(s) will not be removed.
This is a beta one release though, so it’s possible Apple will change things so that this isn’t possible anymore. That’d be a shame, though.
Apple’s iOS 15 is currently in the hands of developers and will be available via the public beta program next month. It’ll be available to everyone this fall.
