iOS 12.2 Beta 6 Enables Logitech Crayon Support For iPad Pro

With confirmation that the new iPad mini and iPad Air will include support for the Logitech Crayon as well as the first generation Apple Pencil, the iPad Pro was inexplicably left out as the only iPad in the lineup that didn’t support the kid-friendly stylus. Now, it looks like Apple is getting ready to right that wrong with the release of iOS 12.2.

The feature is currently alive and well in iOS 12.2 beta 6, and has been confirmed by multiple people using the beta and one of Logitech’s drawing devices.

We expect Apple to take the wraps off of iOS 12.2 this Monday, when it will also announce its new video streaming and news magazine subscription service. With iOS 12.2 needed in order to bring those services online, we expect it to debut shortly after the event concludes – bringing iPad Pro support for the Logitech Crayon with it.

The Logitech Crayon was first introduced alongside the iPad 6 and was aimed squarely at classrooms. In fact, it wasn’t a stylus that was available outside of that arena, something that is no longer the case. With support for the Crayon added in iOS 12.2, all current iPads will support it, which will mean anyone who wants to try one out can do exactly that.

The Logitech Crayon currently retails for $69, so it’s notably cheaper than either the first or second generation Apple Pencil, which maybe a consideration for some when making their buying decision. There’s a lot to like about the Crayon beyond that price, and if you want to take one for a spin, a visit to a local Apple Store should sort that right out.
