Min Zheng, better known to some as @SparkZheng on Twitter, has made a public call for patience in relation to the upcoming Electra iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak.
Speaking via Twitter, the Alibaba security researcher has suggested that the required APFS rootfs remount should be coming soon, which should get the jailbreak back on track for public release.
The majority of iPhone and iPad owners sitting on iOS 11.3.1 who are interested in a jailbreak are entirely unaware of the intricacies of that jailbreak and the reasons why it might be taking a prolonged period of time to get right.
For most, it’s a case of understanding that a jailbreak is on the horizon and then waiting patiently for it to actually be pushed out into the public domain. However, for others, and especially those with an intricate knowledge of how jailbreaks function, there is a demand to know the technical issues that are preventing the jailbreak from being released.
Where the iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak is concerned, it would seem that the current delay is down to not having the necessary work in place to remount rootfs, which basically gives the jailbreak the read/write capabilities that it needs to go about its business. So, with that in mind, it should be clear that it is an imperative part of the jailbreak experience and a missing piece that immediately prevents the work from being finalized and the Electra 11.3.1 jailbreak from shipping. Thankfully, if Zheng’s tweet is correct, then Jonathon Levin should be updating QiLin with the necessary in the coming seven days:
Be patient, JL told me in mosec (last Friday) that he will update #QiLin (maybe this week) with APFS rootfs remount for iOS 11.3.1 #Jailbreak.
Zheng’s tweet appears to be in response to a tweet by Levin during the month of May as well as a conversation with face-to-face which has happened during the recent Mobile Security Conference in Shanghai, China. If accurate, then the Electra jailbreak team could have everything that it needs to push out a functional iOS 11.3.1 jailbreak to public sooner rather than later.

Still, as good as this news is, it’s worth taking everything with a pinch of salt until we actually see something tangible release to the waiting community.
