When Apple released iOS 10.3.2 to the public following a beta program, not many people expected a new round of betas to kick off so quickly, but that didn’t stop Apple from doing exactly that.
Just a day later, Apple issues iOS 10.3.3 beta 1 to developers via the usual OTA, developer and public portal methods.
As this is a relatively minor release, hinted by the version number bump, expectations for new features were minimal and as people are spending time with the new release, that is proving to be absolutely accurate. The one new thing users can look forward to is some new wallpapers if they are using an iPad Pro, but everyone else has to make do with bug and security fixes, not that these are ever bad things to be added to iOS releases.
As is always the case, and even with relatively minor releases, the obvious question is whether this new beta brings with it any speed or performance improvements over the software that came before it. Sometimes Apple manages to better optimize iOS for certain iPhones and CPUs, for example, so is that the case here?
Again, as is always the case, the folks over at the iAppleBytes YouTube channel have got us covered by recording not just one speed comparison video, but four. The videos all compare final version of iOS 10.3.2 with the first beta of iOS 10.3.3 on different hardware – iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s. The results? Well, we wouldn’t want to spoil all the fun now, would we?
That being said, the videos are pretty long so here’s the gist: this beta may bring fixes and such, but anyone expecting huge performance improvements this time around is likely to be disappointed. That isn’t to say there are not some improvements though, so be sure to check the videos out.
