If you absolutely want to be able to install macOS Ventura on an unsupported Mac, you’re in luck. A new tool makes that entirely possible and it’s called OpenCore Legacy Patcher.
The tool allows macs that run versions of macOS on Macs that aren’t officially supported and it’s actually “based on the same OpenCore bootloader used for Hackintosh, which is a well-known method for running macOS on regular PCs.”
Unfortunately, the developers of OpenCore say that Apple has removed a ton of legacy drivers form macOS 13 because they obviously aren’t needed for Macs that aren’t supported. However, that doesn’t mean that OpenCore can’t get the job done. However, it’s to be expected that some things might go awry given the amount of hackery going on here.
Regardless, the Macs that are newly compatible with macOS Ventura thanks to this tool include:
- 2008 – 2016 MacBook
- 2009 – 2017 MacBook Air
- 2008 – 2016 MacBook Pro
- 2009 – 2017 Mac mini
- 2007 – 2017 iMac
- 2008 – 2013 Mac Pro

You can learn more about the OpenCore tool and what it goes over on the developers’ GitHub page now. You might still be better choosing to upgrade to a more modern Mac if that’s an option, but if not, this is one way to get Apple’s latest software to run if you absolutely need to.
